The BSNL WiMAX tender has been cancelled. According to telecoms.com sources, India’s state-owned fixed and mobile operator is now looking at putting in place new terms and conditions for another tender.

The original tender was dogged by controversy with BSNL facing allegations of non-transparency in the bidding process to select its WiMAX franchisee partners.

Microsoft closes nine security holes on "Patch Tuesday" Bonn, Germany - Microsoft released six security updates on its most recently monthly "Patch Tuesday." The patches close up nine security holes in all, indicates the German Federal Agency for Security in Information Technology (BSI).

The holes can be found in Windows, Internet Explorer, and in the desktop publishing program Publisher, among others. They are in some cases being actively exploited by cybercrooks looking to smuggle malicious software onto the computers of unsuspecting users.

Indian village with 250 sets of twins

Doctors are trying to unravel the mystery of an Indian village boasting 250 sets of twins born to just 2,000 families.

The phenomenon has seen almost six times as many twins born than the global average in the remote village of Kodinhi, in Kerala.

In 2008 alone 15 pairs of twins were born in the village out of 300 healthy deliveries and this year is expected to top that number.
